What do I need to manage on my VPS?
Before you put a website or application on a VPS, confirm who will maintain its operating system, software, security and backups. Check the management work included in your own service agreement with us. A VPS control panel, root access or a backup menu does not by itself confirm that we maintain the software or keep recoverable copies of your data.
Confirm the support included with your service
- Read the order details and any service-specific agreement for your VPS. Check who handles operating-system updates, security work, application faults and recovery after a failure.
- If the scope is unclear, sign in to your account, open Support → New Ticket and choose Tech/Server. Give the service name and ask us to confirm the management work included, the work you must arrange and any separate charges before work begins.
- Describe what you intend to run and who will maintain it. Root access gives broad control over a server; it does not describe the support included in your plan.
Assign the maintenance work
- Operating system and software: name the person responsible for security updates, supported software versions and a plan to recover from a failed update.
- Access and security: agree who manages administrator accounts, keys, passwords, firewall rules and access reviews when someone leaves your team.
- Websites and applications: assign responsibility for application updates, plugins, databases, certificates and investigating errors. Keep a record of the changes made.
- Monitoring: agree who checks storage, service health and alerts, and who responds when the website or application stops working.
- Licences: confirm the software you need and the licences included in your order. Do not assume cPanel, Windows or another paid product is included because you have bought a VPS.
Confirm a usable backup and recovery plan
- Ask what is backed up, how often copies are made, how long they are kept, where they are stored and who performs a restore. Confirm whether files, databases and application settings are all covered.
- Keep a separate, secure copy of important data and arrange a restore test before you need recovery. A backup job or snapshot listed in a panel does not prove that an application can be restored successfully.
- Before a reinstall, major update or cancellation, confirm that the required data can be recovered. A reinstall can erase server data; returning to an older backup can remove newer orders, messages and edits.
- Our website backup guide covers cPanel hosting tools. Do not treat those steps as confirmation that your whole VPS is backed up.
Ask for help with a specific problem
- In your Tech/Server ticket, include the service name, affected website or application, the symptoms, when they started and any recent changes. Ask us to confirm the scope and cost of proposed work before it starts.
- Review the subject and message, then choose Open ticket. Never send passwords, private keys, sign-in codes or private backup archives in a support message.
