How do I add another website to my hosting?
Open cPanel → Domains → Create A New Domain, choose Registered Domain and enter the domain you own. For a separate website, leave Share document root unticked and check Document Root (File System Location) before choosing Submit. The document root is the folder holding that website's files. Sharing it makes both addresses show the same website. Adding a domain in cPanel does not register it or copy an existing website.
Check what you are adding
- Confirm your hosting plan allows another website and has enough storage and resources for it. Several websites on one hosting account share that account's resources.
- Register the new domain before you expect visitors to reach it. If you already own it elsewhere, it can stay registered there; you do not need to transfer its registration just to host the website with us.
- Decide whether you want a separate website or another address for your current website. They are different choices in the form.
Create a separate website location
- Sign in to your account, open Services, find the correct hosting and choose Log in to cPanel. On a phone, choose cPanel.
- In cPanel, use Search Tools to open Domains. Choose Create A New Domain, then Registered Domain.
- Enter your domain in Domain, without
https://or a page address. To add a subdomain, enter the complete name, such asshop.example.com, using your own domain. - For a separate website, keep Share document root unticked. Review the proposed Document Root (File System Location) and use a separate folder. Do not point it to the folder of another working website.
- Check the domain and folder, then choose Submit. Return to the domain list and confirm the new entry and its Document Root.
If you want the same website at another address
- Share document root makes the added domain use the main website's files. It does not create a separate website. The form warns that you cannot change this shared-root choice after creating the domain, so decide before submitting.
- Sharing files is also different from redirecting visitors to one preferred address. Ask your developer which approach the website needs before setting up both addresses.
Put the website online
- Upload or install the website in its own folder. For WordPress, cPanel includes WordPress Manager by Softaculous; select the correct domain before starting any installation. Do not install over an existing website.
- Point the domain's website records to the hosting using the DNS record guide. Preserve existing email records if email is hosted elsewhere.
- Check the website and its SSL certificate after DNS points correctly. If the form refuses another domain, send Tech/Server the exact message so we can check the plan or domain setup. Do not remove a working domain to make room without checking its website and email first.
