How do I cancel a service and stop future renewals?
Open your account, choose Services, select the service and open Cancellation. Enter Reason for cancellation, review the effect on your website, email, backups and related services, tick the confirmation and choose Request cancellation. This submits an end-of-billing-period request, not immediate deletion. Check that the request is recorded and ask us to confirm its effective date and any remaining charges. Leaving an invoice unpaid does not confirm cancellation.
Prepare before cancelling
- Check the correct client account and service. Save and check copies of website files, databases, email and anything else you need outside the hosting account. Files kept only on the service are not a separate backup.
- If you are moving, finish the website and email move and test the new setup before access to the old service ends. Check domains, add-ons and any other services that depend on it.
- Open Billing and note unpaid or upcoming invoices for that service. Do not assume cancellation settles an existing invoice, deletes a charge or creates a refund. Ask Billing/Payments to confirm the treatment of any disputed or unclear charge.
Request cancellation and check it was recorded
- Open Services, select the service by its plan and domain, then choose the Cancellation tab.
- Under Request cancellation, enter Reason for cancellation. Read Before you continue, tick I have reviewed the impact and want to submit this cancellation request, then choose Request cancellation once.
- Reopen Cancellation and check for A cancellation request is already pending. This means the request has been recorded; it is not confirmation that the service has already ended.
- If the page says Cancellation requests are unavailable for this service state, or submission cannot be confirmed, open Support → New Ticket, select Billing/Payments, give the service and requested cancellation in Message, then choose Open ticket. Check an existing ticket before sending another request.
- Ask us to confirm the effective date, which services and add-ons the cancellation covers and whether any invoice still needs action. Keep that confirmation. If you need the service to end sooner or want to withdraw a request, ask us before assuming either change is accepted.
Keep or stop domain renewal separately
- Cancelling hosting does not itself confirm cancellation of the domain registration. If you want to keep the domain, make sure its renewal is handled separately. For a combined invoice, use our domain-only renewal guide.
- To turn off automatic renewal for a domain registered with us, open Domains, select the domain, then Contacts & renewal. Under Domain settings → Auto-renew, tick Confirm change and choose Disable auto-renew. Check that the setting now reads Disabled.
- If auto-renew changes are unavailable, send the domain name and your request to Domain through Support → New Ticket → Open ticket. A domain held with another registrar needs its renewal setting changed there.
- Disabling auto-renew is different from deleting a domain, cancelling hosting or settling an invoice already issued. Ask us to check related charges before you assume nothing remains due.
