How do I create a hosting account for a client?

Create a separate cPanel account for your client in WHM → Account Functions → Create a New Account. Check your reseller account allowance, the client’s domain and the hosting package before choosing Create. Give the client access to their own cPanel account, and keep your reseller and account sign-in details private.

Open WHM and check capacity

  • Use the WHM address and reseller login supplied for your reseller service. WHM manages your client accounts; opening an individual website’s cPanel is a different task. If you do not have the correct WHM address, contact our support team and identify the reseller service. Do not guess a server address or bypass a certificate warning.
  • Check the account allowance in your reseller order. In WHM, open Account Information → List Accounts, count the accounts already listed and search for the client’s domain to avoid creating it twice. Compare that count with your order’s allowance before adding another client. Ask Tech/Server to check any limit you cannot confirm.
  • Prepare a domain the client owns, a separate account username and a contact email address they can access. Creating hosting does not register the domain or move an existing website.

Choose a hosting package

  • A package sets the account’s limits and features. Choose one that fits the client’s website, email and storage needs within your reseller allowance.
  • To define a package, open Packages → Add a Package. Enter Package Name, review Resources and Settings, then choose Add. Set deliberate limits rather than copying values from an unrelated account.
  • If you cannot find package creation or a suitable package, ask Tech/Server to check the reseller permissions and limits. Do not change a working client’s package to make room for a new one.

Create the client account

  • Open Account Functions → Create a New Account. Enter Domain, check Username, set a strong unique Password, repeat it in Re-type Password and enter Email for account notices.
  • Under Package, select the intended entry in Choose a Package. Review the domain, username, email and package before choosing Create once.
  • Read the result. After success, return to Account Information → List Accounts and confirm the domain, username and package. If the result is unclear, check the list before submitting again; send the exact error to Tech/Server rather than repeating account creation.

Give the client separate access and plan the launch

  • Give the client the correct cPanel address and their own account access details through a secure method. Do not share your WHM, reseller or account sign-in. Keep a secure record of which client owns each account.
  • A new empty account is not a completed website migration. Arrange files, databases and mail before changing DNS. Preserve existing email records when the client uses another email provider.
  • Use our DNS guide for record changes and our SSL guide to check HTTPS after the domain points correctly. Test the website and email before you tell the client that the move is complete.
